Are creatures summoned by scrolls different?

Post by carld256 »

I was attempting to Soul Trap a Golden Saint summoned via a scroll and found that every time I cast Soul Trap it immediately cast a dispell. Despite spamming Soul Trap I wasn't able to get it to stick, and after 3 tries I gave up. I didn't notice this behavior when I Soul Trapped one in the wild. Is this normal behavior or does it sound like a bug?

I'm currently playing on a nightly build version from a couple of weeks ago.

It's not true to Morrowind. Have you put it up on the bug tracker?

I'm pretty sure they did that in the original game too, though I can't get it to happen right now. Maybe it's tied to some other conditions.
Either way, the "dispel" spell is given to golden saint in the game files, so that is surely how the developers intended it to work.

This is weird, in vanilla and OpenMW I have repeatedly successfully soultrapped summoned golden saints. First, in OpenMW, I may have done it a few versions before the dispel functionality was in place, and second, in both, if their dispel is interrupt-able or lock-out able by repeated fast attacks, I may just have prevented them from casting because I usually am using shortblade and wailing on them mercilessly.

Not yet. I wanted to make sure it was really a bug and not intended behavior. It's not something I ever did in vanilla Morrowind.

did a character running around getting spells, etc and tried with scroll summoned in vanilla + one mod placed near seyda and both casted dispel to dire weakness to magicka

difference is that in openmw it doesn't wait that 6 seconds to use dispel .p

and consecuently uses the shield spell also
