openmw-launcher

This will make your life easier. ;) It is a wizard that will walk you through installation of Morrowind and get you into the game faster.

openmw itself is just the engine, it needs to be configured first and pointed in the right direction which is where the launcher comes in.
ok! Thx!

So - These are the 2 lines you need to install on Linux Mint 17.1:
sudo apt-get install openmw
sudo apt-get install openmw-launcher

NOW .. i come to this:

I cannot find WHERE the game files are.

If you installed your copy of Morrowind with Wine, it puts it in ~/.wine/drive_c/program files (x86)/(Whatever you named your morrowind directory when you installed it)
You can browse to it from your home folder if you have "Show hidden files and folders" enabled in Nemo (mint's file explorer)

Also, if you have CDs - it could be worth using the openmw-launcher to just install it for you from the CDs (click "run installation wizard"). If you have steam, then you have the wine issue bydlo pointed out

Yep! it sure uninstalls ok...Just cant see it..
I 'unhide' the files and looked in the .wine.. OR PlayOnLiux.. Nothing there.

so .. uninstalling and trying again i guess...

Installing..
when i run the launcher I am asked WHERE the installation Media is.. i have NO disks and this is Open Source, right? i cannot find the files.

I am sure others are having this issue IF i am .. and I am just a normal user. I totally removed the packages and still cant see where the installation is putting these files.

Help would be appreciated.

Only the engine is open source - you still need to buy the game (often very cheap via steam or even your local game store).

Perhaps this page and this one should be more prominent?
