Granted I wanted the 49 Dev version but Release Version is even more awesome! :lol:

Just a packaging error - Git failed to extract a current commit. Probably it happened because OpenMW was built from zipped source code package rather than from an actual OpenMW git repo, or because build machine does not have Git available in PATH.

Well, that scenario you laid out is not as exciting as a stealth OpenMW 49 Release - but OK. :lol:
