Help identifying mesh/texture errors

Hi,

First time modder here, so bear with me as I am sure there are terms/practices I am unfamiliar with.

I largely followed the One-day Morrowind Modernization list/video, but skipped a lot of the graphics mods. I'm getting lots of missing meshes/textures from what appear to be three separate mods. I won't list all of them, but here's a small selection from the error log:

The first section has files names similar to those found in Morrowind Enhanced Textures, but in MET they look like "tx_a_indoril_beltcloth.dds"; without the appended "_nm".
For the other two error lists above, I've looked through my mods to identify where they are coming from, but I can't find a file path nor file names like the ones being listed.

I'm not sure if the errors are caused by a missed dependency on my part, an out-of-date mod that has a dependency on something like OAAB.

Any ideas or pointers would be much appreciated.

You've got a mesh replacer mod that changes something so as well as the textures it normally needs, it also uses MCP bump maps, but you've not actually installed these bump maps. The _nm suffix is what a lot of modders have settled on for MCP bump maps because they look and behave a little like normal maps.

OpenMW can't find them either, hence why it's complaining. One of your ESPs is requesting these files get used.

These errors will all be because you've missed an optional directory for a mod, you've missed a dependency of a mod, or have ended up with a mod's ESP file(s) without its data/BSA.

Thanks for the help. You're right, I haven't installed MCP. I am going to remove the HiRez Armors mod and see if that fixes some of the errors because I believe that is the one complaining about the bump maps. If so, I can either add MCP or just play without HiRez.

As far as the other two errors go, I've tried going through my various mesh/texture mods to see what dependencies they have or if I missed something in the .cfg file, but so far I haven't found anything. I wasn't sure if anyone knew, specifically, based on the mods I'm using what could be causing the error.

I guess for now I can try removing mods one at a time and see what happens.

MCP is a hack that meddles with the guts of the original engine, so it won't work with OpenMW. Some of what it does is fix bugs, which we didn't have in OpenMW in the first place as it's an entirely new engine, some is (sometimes controversial) gameplay changes, a few of which are available as options in OpenMW, but long-term will be up to people to create as Lua mods, and the bump map thing changes how they affect environment maps to make them look lumpy rather than shiny. You can get the same effect in OpenMW with the Apply lighting to environment maps setting. I mentioned MCP not because it's a requirement for the mod causing those errors, but because knowing about it might help you identify it. The actual problem there is just that you've got some Nif files that refer to texture files that you've not got.

I have found the problem. I was under the impression that because I was only using Tamriel Rebuilt and not Skyrim/Cyrodil that I didn't need the PC_Data.bsa and the Sky_Data.bsa registered as a fallback-archive in my .cfg file. Adding those has fixed the issue.
