I can't imagine viewing distance = -1024 doing anything good.

I've copied your settings and can't seem to reproduce the problem. I have managed to reproduce a different problem when I use negative viewing distance, though, although that's not supposed to work in the first place.

I noticed something. On my settings, it said this: Viewing Cells: 0 Cells

I turned this up to 10.0 Cells, not sure what number to have this at. I saw land/water.

So... probably a good idea to warn the user that they have a non-sane value.
