Provide releases without an installer

Post by oncipriani »

It would be nice to have an installer-free release option, for advanced users.

This would be basically just a ZIP archive that must be manually extracted by the user, just like GZDoom releases.

Or maybe provide a flag to the existing installer to just extract the files, without installing.

In this case the user would be responsible for installing required dependencies, like Microsoft C and C++ (MSVC) runtime libraries.

The CI actually does build the release commits, although the results are only kept for a couple of months. You actually can use 7zip to extract our .exe installer like a zip archive and end up with basically the result you're after, too.

Thank you for the 7zip tip, AnyOldName3.

That was exactly what I was looking for.
