Can you upload the launcher log? The MyGUI log is something from the engine.

Do you have non-English characters in user's name?

Sorry, wasn't able to find 0.48 Launcher log in My Games\OpenMW folder either.
https://ibb.co/5vYZpRv - this is how My Games\OpenMW folder looks like after Launcher is opened, settings adjusted and closed, the Launcher fails to create the log file too.

Yes, it seems that cyrillic characters are the reason - "C:\Users\Администратор\Documents\My Games\OpenMW", because I just tested 0.48 Launcher under Windows profile named in latin characters and it created "launcher.log" and "settings.cfg" instantly.
I copied both files into non-latin profile, but Launcher failed to write anything into them.

P.S. checked 0.47 Launcher - it creates "settings.cfg", but doesn't create Launcher log file under non-latin Windows profile.

P.P.S. not the same, but similar issue was actually discussed here - https://gitlab.com/OpenMW/openmw/-/issues/6817 - maybe the orign of that and my issue is the same...

What version of Windows are you using (if it's 10, the version number, e.g. 1904 would help, too)? There's slightly different handling of certain things between different versions because of a change they made, so it would help to know if both routes are broken or just the one we know is broken.

Windows 10 Pro x64 21H1 (19043.2006)
(might not be important, but I have the Decrapify script applied https://gist.github.com/voice1/00b296fa ... cb40c78018)

P.S. AIDA64 identifies Windows version as 10.0.19043.2006 (Win10 21H1 May 2021 Update)

Bugger. We thought that worked.

Good news! Apparently, we weren't doing the thing that made me think that worked.

If you use 0.48 RC2, you can try to test this archive. It contains the "OpenMW_MSVC2019_64_RelWithDebInfo_revert_filesystem.zip" file with packed OpenMW distro. It has fixes related to non-ASCII paths, so it may help with your issue.

Don't use that, as it'll download symbol files you don't need, and also doesn't include some other fixes we've put on the 0.48 branch. https://gitlab.com/OpenMW/openmw/-/jobs ... nmw-48.zip is a better link

Thank you so much! Installed from this ZIP, wiped My Games\OpenMW folder and checked the Launcher - it instantly created all .CFG files including "settings.cfg".
Reporting here though, that on import of the settings from Morrowind.ini this Laucher version converted all Cyrillic symbols (Windows-1251,I think, not 100% sure) into unreadable ISO-8859-1 format (based on info from online descriptors).
As such level update messages and questions turned from:

Code: Select all

Вы понимаете
into

Code: Select all

Âû ïîíèìàåòå
- and are displayed accordingly unreadable in game.

Yes, the very first try was with 0.48 RC2, that's when "settings.cfg" was not created by Launcher.
A thousand thanks! Tested this ZIP, Launcher creates all .CFG files flawlessly and Launcher preserved Cyrillic symbols correctly on import from "Morrowind.ini".
Will stick to this version till the official release of 0.48.
