Magicka Based Skill Progression v2.1 Compatability

Hey there! I was using modding-openmw's lists to mod my game (been forever since I've played... a decade probably) and saw that they had this Magicka Based Skill Progression - ncgdMW Compatility Version mod on there (https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/44973) but I didn't love the sound of the other required mod(s). So it suggested the original, HotFusion4's Magicka Based Skill Progression v2.1 (http://mw.modhistory.com/download-35-12364).
Do you folks think I'll run into any issues on OpenMW running this mod? Anyone familiar with it?
It makes you gain skill on amount of magicka spent casting rather than number of times cast.
