Randomized footstep sounds

Morrowind has a very repetitive footstep sound, pit pat pit pat pit pat... it only plays two sounds that repeat monotonously. Morrowind Acoustic Overhaul had a feature to have random footstep sounds like in modern games but it relied on MWSE. It would be great to see this implemented in OpenMW especially if we could supply our own assets.

I like this idea. But perhaps it is better to implement in Lua?

A possibility to randomly change the pitch of sound effects and voice lines would be nice. The RPG Gothic did something like that as well, I think.
