I haven't seen it anywhere else in game.

I had a look in the Construction Set and it seems there is supposed to be a well there, with a script that enables/disables, connected to one of the questlines. Perhaps something to do with having the cell load distance turned up?

I'll start a new game later with a normal cell load and see if it does the same thing.

A yellow quotation mark is a placeholder for missing or invalid meshes.
Usually it happens when user incorrectly installs Morrowind or mods for it.
There should be related complaints in openmw.log.

Hmm. I'm using the GOTY edition from GOG. I installed it using their installer. I'll try disabling all other mods and reinstall again, if that doesn't fix it. Thanks.

The mesh seems to load ok in the construction set though (original ESCS) ... ?

Will try with the original engine as well, see if I can narrow it down.

It seems to be an issue with the Anthology Solstheim mod that I had enabled. For some reason, their version was calling up a different file for that mesh, which doesn't seem to exist. It works in both Morrowind and OpenMW with the mod disabled.

I'll disable the mod for now and file a bug report with that project.
