I would like to propose the following naming changes:
mwiniimport -> openmw-iniimporter
omwlauncher -> openmw-launcher
Unchanged:
bsatool and esmtool (not specific to openmw)
This is for consistency with the "openmw-essimporter" and "openmw-wizard" executables. Additionally, the names "mwiniimport" and "omwlauncher" could be too generic (i.e. provoke conflicts) for packagers. In our ubuntu packages omwlauncher is actually contained in the "openmw-launcher" package, causing much confusion when attempting to start "openmw-launcher" after installing.

Re: Renaming tools
100% agree!
Same for our new CS... it should be called openmw-cs
It is what we call it in Debian/Ubuntu.

Re: Renaming tools
Fine with me. Only for the binaries of course. Source directory structure stays as it is.
Re: Renaming tools
Rename done. I've left opencs alone for now, because it looks like slightly more work, but if someone wants to do it, go right ahead.

Re: Renaming tools
opencs sounds much more of a grant tool
after 1.0 it might be asked to move back as it's not tied specifically to mw.

Re: Renaming tools
Huh? openmw-cs is written with openmw in mind... I doubt it will be used for anything else.sjek wrote:opencs sounds much more of a grant tool

Re: Renaming tools
We call the project OpenMW instead of OpenMorrowind for two reasons; first to stay out of legal trouble, but second because the engine has higher aspirations than Morrowind itself.
Perhaps in the future MW will not mean Morrowind to us, but Moddable World.
So openmw-cs would be very suitable in that case.

Agreed. It also makes it more clear that it is a tool for the engine OpenMW and nothing else. I mean, OpenCS could just as well mean OpenCounterStrike.raevol wrote:We call the project OpenMW instead of OpenMorrowind for two reasons; first to stay out of legal trouble, but second because the engine has higher aspirations than Morrowind itself.

something like had in mind it's basically can the cs be used technically to write different engine from cratch?It also makes it more clear that it is a tool for the engine OpenMW and nothing else. I mean, OpenCS could just as well mean OpenCounterStrike.
