All UI not appearing.
Whenever I create a new game, and the guy asks me what my name is no UI appears. I can interact with it, but it still doesn't appear. When it tells me to open the door, no UI. The race menu also doesn't appear. Anybody know what's happening? Can provide further info if needed

Re: All UI not appearing.
Further info is definitely needed. Your
openmw.log
would be a good start.Re: All UI not appearing.
I am also having this issue:
Environment: Ubuntu 24.04
Hardware: Ryzen 7 8700g with 780m graphics
OpenMW Rersion: 0.48.0 (from ubuntu repo)
Morrowind Release: Steam Version
Attaced openmw.log file.
I attempted to attach a short video displaying issue in a new game but seem unable to upload it as mkv, zip, or even gif... I have attached the openmw.log and cfg files.
Please let me know if you need anything else.
Thanks,
Bagle

Re: All UI not appearing.
That log doesn't show any obvious problems.
Re: All UI not appearing.
Yeah it is basically a fresh ubuntu install. I wonder what the other user was running hardware and software wise? I have another system running an arch-like (steamfork) that also has the radeon 780m Igpu that I will give it a try on.
Any recommendation on how I can share this video or next steps I can take to assist?
Thanks,
Bagle
~Update - it is fine on my other device with a 780m using the flatpack release, will try flatpack release under ubuntu.
~Second Update - the flatpak version (same release number) also works fine under the same ubuntu 24.04 setup, likely the issue is only with the .deb version

Re: All UI not appearing.
Were you running stock openmw from Ubuntu? That is known not to work right. MyGUI (our UI rendering middleware) isn't that well maintained, along with OSG on Debian.
If you are using the deb from our PPA, then we'd be interested as those packages are under our control.

Thanks. Yeah I was running the version from the ubuntu repo (noted in my first post). I actually checked the openmw downloads page first, in case this was like an OBS or Steam scenario where they have a note recommending to not use the ubuntu repo version, but I found no note. The first link in the ubuntu section is actually to the ubuntu repo version.
That may be something good to add to the site. Though I don't think most people check for that scenario to be fair.
Ill make the switch from the flatpak to the openmw ppa version and update if I have any issues.
~Update: after installing version from PPA same issue is shown.
[*]Previous version was uninstalled using the purge command.
[*]Added ppa - double checked instructions on ppa page as well to make sure there were no weird requirements (we are all good here)
[*]apt-get updated returned a hit for the openmw ppa: Hit:7 https://ppa.launchpadcontent.net/openmw/openmw/ubuntu noble InRelease (all good here as far as I can tell)
[*]No issues with installation either from what I can tell.
I have another ubuntu system (but different hardware) that I will try the PPA version on without there being a prior ubuntu repo version when I get the time. For now Im just going to enjoy some Morrowind using the flatpak version.

Re: All UI not appearing.
Thanks for the feedback! Yes, that note should be added about downstream Ubuntu (and Debian).
Also... for openmw 0.48 itself, as you can see here: https://launchpad.net/~openmw/+archive/ ... /+packages
only official release from us was for Jammy and Focal; so Nobel will be again pulling from downstream.
Give the nightly PPA a try as well please; if that's borked, then we have issues. Keep in mind though that there are updated deps like new OSG and MyGUI as well. So downgrading might be problematic so you'll need to purge those packages.
Let us know how it goes.
