Suggestion: Discord server
Re: Suggestion: Discord server
Grim Kriegor sent me this a bit ago: https://riot.im/app/#/group/+openmw:matrix.org
Re: Suggestion: Discord server
Are the rooms in that group still using the bot-based bridge?
There are excellent native IRC (hosted on matrix.org) and Discord (hosted on t2bot.io) bridges available for Matrix already.
Along with Gitter, Telegram, Facebook, and a whole heap more.

That seems to have been just Matrix the website, not Matrix the thing.
Re: Suggestion: Discord server
Yeah, their website and surrounding infrastructure (build servers, distribution nodes, and partly the matrix.org HS) got hacked due to a publicly accessible Jenkins server and some insecure SSH settings.AnyOldName3 wrote: ↑27 Jun 2019, 02:07 That seems to have been just Matrix the website, not Matrix the thing.
Amusingly enough, while all this was happening, the only noticeable effect on the Matrix network was that the Matrix.org-hosted IRC and Gitter rooms became silent. And the network also ran a bit quicker, as federation didn't have to talk to the overloaded Matrix.org HS any more.
I personally respect how well they dealt with the security issue, and how open they were with why it was possible for it to happen in the first place.

We obviously can't use Matrix if I can't have capital letters.

Re: Suggestion: Discord server
Sure. Also, while we're on the not-yelling, let's change all of our camel-case variable names to lowercase, because it's much more calming to read thevariablethatgovernswhetherornotwedothethingthatweonlydosometimes when there are no word boundaries being yelled.

It's okay, they're working on removing usernames entirely, then that won't be an issue anymoreAnyOldName3 wrote: ↑27 Jun 2019, 13:25
