You speak to a dremora in Balmora (near the Hlaalu Council Manor) and get teleported to the Dragons Lair (a floating island)
You fight the dragon lord/kill him
A ring is added to your inventory once you kill him
You can ride dragons
What doesn't happen is that
1. you receive the ring. It's meant to be added to your inventory, but I can't find it. I can't find it on the dragon lord either, or in his lair.
2. The dragon that he rides (and that you kill, at the same time as him) are visible. However, the three dragons that you can ride at his lair, are missing.
So no ring, and the dragons aren't there.
This is unfortunate because I literally can't think of a better way to travel round morrowind.
Can anybody with OpenMW/modding experience take a look and see what is going on here, and see if it can be fixed? Pretty please.
1. _dremorarider_script script has a syntax error.
2. Player can not toggle sneak during falling, so you will not be able to ride a dragon even if you will fix 1.

Thank you so much for the quick reply.
Is #2 an OpenMW specific problem/feature?
And is this remotely feasible to be fixed? Surely flying dragons is in demand.
#1 should be pretty easily fixable. If #2 is something OpenMW does differently to vanilla, it should probably be reported and fixed, but if it relies on MWSE or MCP, then it's probably out-of-scope, at least until 1.0.

It's definitely nothing to do with MWSE or MCP, or at least nothing is specified in the text file. Plus it does work, for the most part. You just can't get to (see) the dragons, ride them, or receive the ring. Thanks for the quick replies to both of you.

2. INTRODUCTION
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is essentially a mod that allows you to ride dragons in
real-time.
Game Summary :
The prophecy spoke of a mortal who would restore order to the
universe, and become protector of the land. The time of the
prophecy is at hand.
For now, an evil dark lord more fierce than Dagoth Ur has
risen from the gates of oblivion, and his shadow has swiftly
covered the land, as he seeks to conquer and rule over all.
Commanding a fierce armada of dragons, he has deemed
himself Prince of the Power of the Air.
Do you have what it takes to challenge him and ultimately
take control of his dragons? Be prepared for the biggest fight
of your life.

5. DRAGON STATISTICS
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are 3 types; Green, Red and Black. Each one of them
starts with similar stats. However, as you use them, they will
gain experience and levels. The maximum level is 100. The
other difference among the dragons beside their colors is the
type of fireballs they spit. Below are some facts.

Red Dragon : Spit Fireball
Black Dragon : Spit Shockball

You can check your dragon stats on the dialog menu.

6. TELEPORTATION RING
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This ring will be added to your inventory after you had defeated
the dragon lord.
The ring is activated when you equip it. This ring allows you to
teleport dragons to the player. It will only work outdoor. There is
also an option for you to teleport the player to the lair location.
In the dragon dialog menu, there is also an option for you to
send the dragons back to its lair.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7. BONUS FEATURES
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Due to popular demand, I have also include the companion
flying feature. It is a similar script that was used in the Pegas
Horse Ranch mod. So, how does this one works?
You will see a new topic "Dragon Flying" in your companion
dialogue. The scripts allows you to choose ANY companion
that you want to bring along. However, only one can be selected
at one time. To change to another companion, simply cancel
the existing one and then select the next one.
After selecting the NPC, just activate the dragon that you want
to fly with and the NPC will fly together with you.
*****Things to note : *************
On the Pegas Ranch mod, I did mention that the script does
not attach to the reference NPC after game re-loading. Well, I'm
wrong. As long as the player is referenced in the game ( which
means he is not created using a script ), then it is possible to
retain the attachment. This also means that you can now
SAVE game while your NPC rides with you. HOWEVER, there
is one setback. If you are riding high up in the air, your NPC
will take a dramatic fall to the ground first before jumping back
up on the dragon. Fortunately, your NPC will auto regenerate
himself.......that's if he can survive the fall.
If everything else fail, I suggest stops the dragon immediately.
Descend all the way down to look for your NPC. Talk to him and
abort flying. Then, invite him again. Everything should restore
back to normal.

8. FAQs
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
a. Will it be compatible with Peags Horse Ranch?
Yes. In fact, it has been tested compatible with over 500 mods.
An additional feature was also added to make it compatible with
Cortex's Vampire Embrace next version update.
b. How stable is the companion feature?
Seriously, I don't know. The script has been improved and does
allow you to save game while your companion is riding with you.
However, I do not recommend it unless it's absolutely necessary.
c. What is the best way to fight off cliffracers on a dragon back?
Build up your marksman skill. Bow and arrows is your best
defense against them. This is especially useful when you have
your companion with you.
d. The quest to get the dragons is too difficult. How do I get past?
Only way is to cheat. Open up the console, click on the enemy
and type :
sethealth 0
e. Can I use the dragon mesh on my mod?
You have to get permission from JB and Wasp first.

9. VERSION UPDATES
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
None at this moment
I think I can provide the answer for number 2, as far as I understand it. Within vehicle mods for early morrowind development, we didn't have a lot of ways to detect when players pressed keys within vanilla MW script, but we found that 2 that would work was the GetPCRunning and GetPCSneaking commands, as these would be true pretty much 100% of the time, at least for falling/levitating/regular moving around. Even when paralyzed, if I remember correctly. So we could count on these two for doing things like sneak activating, or running and sneaking to increase or decrease speed, that kind of thing. OpenMW implements these commands differently, it only sets those to true if the player is actually doing the animations for these actions, so these tricks don't work on OpenMW, and thus it is currently impossible in OpenMW to do the same sorts of controls to vehicles that we could do in the vanilla engine.
Check for animations was added by this request to fix Stormrider controls.
GetPCRunning definely should check if player is actually moving, but probably we need a different approach to detect it.
As for GetPCSneak, it is a pretty inconsistent. For example, it does not work underwater, but for some reason it works during falling (and messes up player's animations in the 3d-person view).
