Let's hope the talk stays technical.

I work for a fortune 500 company, my FOSS work done on company time is 'branded' by me. It might be their copyright, but I did the work and I will have my attribution. This is my 'brand' and it is professional starting with my first FOSS commit circa 1995.

Yeah but you see, there are so many cool names in fiction, you should totally choose one of those. Only then can your work be taken seriously.

Coming up: a patch from fresh github user Secret McQueen, followed by some interesting comments by Skulduggery Pleasant and Lord Vile.

Then almost all developers are "childish", because they often use nicknames.
Robert's approach is too corporate, as I think. Maybe better to use ID numbers instead? "User №637823 from Orwell Enterprise created a pull request."

Thank you, AnyOldName3, I very appreciate all your work on OpenMW!
Looking forward to see cool shadows in 0.45.

If it was free to register a company and trademark, I could create AnyOldName3 ltd. and then say that I'm creating stuff as that company.

What a narrow minded behaviour, judging people by their nickname instead of their contribution

Markus Persson made bank with a nickname.
