You won't, OpenMW isn't meant to play Oblivion. You can import statics, terrain and a few other things... but you or someone else would have to fork OpenMW and rebuilt it to support actually playing Oblivion.
I mean, potentially post-1.0 it would be possible to make a .omwgame that would facilitate loading in the Oblivion .esm with appropriate gameplay adjustments, but it'd still require some conversion work.

It would be Morrowind (game mechanics, fighting, etc.) using Oblivion statics (as-is, not ported). Correct me if I'm wrong, but there is no animation support and likely not to be for Oblivion. That would require updates to our NIF library and re-work of physics code. If someone wants to do that, feel free. ;)

Yes, basically. That said, it's doable, and if you preferred Morrowind (or could easily mod Morrowind into something you preferred to a modded Oblivion), it's not necessarily horrid. Scripting would likely be an issue.

I know that, of course. It's basically what I meant as there are obviously attempts to do that though in a somewhat limited way so far. But who knows, some day. But first things first, so I'm looking forward to OpenMW 1.0 and whatever will be done with it afterwards. ;)

Have you tested how higher-poly/texture size scenes work in OpenMW?

This!

Can't we test that now with some hi-poly count static and place it in scene?
