Re: Icons: Visiual Metaphors
We can use just two kinds of pointing hand.
Re: Icons: Visiual Metaphors
I don't think we are going into the right direction here. Having references as a pointer/hand like icon might work to some degree. Not totally sold on it though, because from a user point of view these are just objects.
For referencables it would be nice to have the icon express that this is a union of all the referencable records (statics, weapons, ...).

???
Or some sort of box?
Re: Icons: Visiual Metaphors
The symbol you showed doesn't work for me. Box might work. Or maybe not. This surely is one of the more difficult icons.

How about an open box and (if this much info can be fit in that size icon) tiny assorted things sticking out of it, like the tip of a sword, some other thing, not sure.
Re: Icons: Visiual Metaphors
Sounds reasonable, but I am somewhat skeptical that this is doable at the size we are dealing with.

I have a new idea. A bookshelf. Kinda like calibre icon.

Reference could be represented by the single volumen.

Wouldn't that be confused with ... well, books?

Re: Icons: Visiual Metaphors
A little. But we can replace book icon for books and scrolls with a scroll icon.
Re: Icons: Visiual Metaphors
Maybe? I think we are getting close to the point where we have to throw out what we got to the users and see what feedback we get.
