Morrowind patch Looked for two hours

Post by banjO11 »

1.6.3b Thepal, 1.6.5b quorn, Hrnchamd and Psyringe, MCP
http://btb2.free.fr/morrowind.html ,BTB's

___________________________________________________________
HAve done all the quest lines in Oblivion
and Skyrim and recently ordered the CDs for Morrowind GOTY edition.
(coming tomorrow...)

I have a few questions about installing the patches and wondering
if some of my assumptions are correct. Here goes:

Does the GOTY edition (which includes
Tribunal and Bloodmoon) contain all the "official"
patches? (Yes)

I assume the other two most often
recommended patches- "Morrowind Patch Project" (formerly
the Unofficial Patch Project) and "Morrowind Code
Patch"- are:
both compatible and desirable. (granted there are some
options to choose from in MCP)

Which one should be installed first?

Is the MPP version 1.6.5b by quorn (as
updated by BTB) is the version to use?
Is there a difference?

I downloaded MPP from BTB's site and it
contains both his version and quorn's version in the Data file. Do
I need to delete one of them?

When I double click on the patch file it
opens the Creation Kit... Why does it do that and will that interfere
with proper loading?

I have been using Nexus Mod Manager for
Skyrim is there any change I need to make to use NMM for
Morrowind?

Many thanks!

Hey, I don't have the time to answer all of your questions, and I also can't without searching for them, but i recommend going through this guide.

I'd honestly recommend just using the MGSO 3.0 package if your computer is powerful enough. It probably is if you have a moderately recent CPU and GPU.

Here's a trailer. Don't expect it to look like this unless you have a modern processor and a very modern graphics card. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d69wYi3_LWo

It still looks amazing on low settings though.

Here's the link to the project and the installer download. http://www.ornitocopter.net/

It handles everything for you. It's of a rather poor design IMO. It just takes control of your mouse and keyboard for the duration of the install. But it works and it's easy, so I use it.

I'd recommend using the torrent. If I remember correctly, it's much faster than the direct download.

This is a good site called "Morrowind Expanded" that gives a 12 Step guide to installing a better Morrowind. It recommends you purchase GOTY on discs, has some really good trouble shooting info on installing Morrowind Graphics Extender, and recommends many many mods to give the game an updated feel.
He says install the Unofficial Morrowind Patch first and then the Morrowind Code Patch second.

Cool Graphics, but I want to start with plain Vanilla...
Thx

Ok, but it also installs the code patch, exe optimizer, 4gb patch, MGE (which lets you do widescreen and any resolution) and loads of better sounds and textures that aren't lore-breaking or anything like that. Your choice, but it's just so easy it's hard to justify not using it.

There is nothing wrong with experiencing the original first. In fact, many people recommend it.

OK, I thought I'd give an update on what I found... It took me a couple of weeks to get back because I've been enjoying playing Morrowind for the first time! The documentation from Bethesda in the GOTY editions says install MW first then Tribunal and then Bloodmoon. This edition comes with all the official patches included- which get loaded with the Bloodmoon disk.

Next, "Morrowind Patch Project" (formerly the Unofficial Patch Project) and "Morrowind Code Patch" are compatible. I used the MPP as modified by BTB (which can be found at http://btb2.free.fr/morrowind.html ) and installed it first. Then I installed MCP (which can be found at the MW Nexus site http://morrowind.nexusmods.com/mods/19510 )
I also found a note on the Nexus Mod Manager site that NMM does not support MW, so I installed all of these files manually.

Other sites or forums I found helpful:

http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/s ... ?t=1922127
http://www.gamespot.com/the-elder-scrol ... -44745600/
and of course there is always Planet Elderscrolls and Great House Fliggerty...
Probably others, but I'm sure someone else can fill those in for us.
Thanks to all
