Reverting .omwsave back to .ess saves

Is this possible? I've found some stuff I would like to try in vanilla with certain mods but I'm not sure if this (converting an openmw save back to ess) is possible. I've done some cursory searching but haven't mad much success.

It's not possible, and in fact, the tool to go in the other direction doesn't really work either.

Yeah, the .ess format is largely undocumented still. Nobody has gone through the hassle to figure it out.
