Save Editing?

Post by Violen »

I was wondering if there was any save editing program that is compatible with openmw.
The reason why i ask:
Recently come across the Constance companion mod which looks great in everything but appearance... its a 2008 era model which makes her look really out of place in my game. That plus i wanted to change my character's appearance. As far as i know save editing is the only way to accomplish these two things without major issues.

There's no save editor for OpenMW yet, and probably won't be for a while as you can do basically everything through console commands. Due to how Morrowind works, changing your character's appearance will reset some of their stats, though, so that's not as simple as it ideally would be.

For changing an NPC's appearance, that's got nothing to do with your saves. It's all in the game data. If it's a popular companion, there'll probably be alternate appearance mods, so if you find one you like, you can just install it.

It does more than just resetting all of your stats,It also voids your spell list... Not Very "ideal" Indeed.

You say save editing does not have anything to do with changing an NPC's appearance, But this comment found on another forum suggests otherwise
"*You may be able to do it with Enchanted Editor without cleaning your save. Open up your save (make a backup first!), find the Constance NPC_ (in your save), and change the hair and head ID to anything you'd like.*" Not sure who is correct.

As far as alternate appearance mods goes, From what ive seen, No such culture exists for that subject in the morrowind modding community, Probably because companion mods are not that popular for MW. They have the stigma of escort quest flashbacks,That, And all of the good ones were made 10+ years ago, So they are quite obscure and a tiny bit difficult to find. In anycase, I have thoroughly checked for such a replacer to no avail. The companion in question is Constance, Seemingly the most popular follower, Outside of Julan.

I don't mean to sound rude, I appreciate you showed up to help.
