Object shaders - far too bright!

Post by Sslaxx »

Not sure if this issue is connected with the one I reported about black terrain - viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1640 - so I'll report this one separately.

As per the subject title, enabling object shaders makes everything too bright (as per the screenshot).

Ubuntu 13.04. Nvidia GTS 550, with 304.88 drivers.

Does MGE XE change any morrowind.ini settings? it seemed that it was doing this for me when I was importing .ini values from a Steam installation or a modded directory. Deleting my openmw.cfg and re-importing a more vanilla .ini file/directory(retail) fixed it for me. I'll do more testing on this eventually if no one comes up with anything.

I think that would be the case, since lighting values are defined in the .ini. Maybe it's incompatible with our per-pixel lighting.

Bump, and a request if anyone has a factory-default Morrowind.ini available to download, please?

I cannot be 100% sure, but some 98% :).

This .ini is from an installation with both official expansions, and no plugins at all. I hope it works for you.

It might be useful to note what is different between the ini files so this doesnt happen to anyone else.

I agree. We may need to put this information into the Wiki.

So what was the fix for this problem please? I made a new install of MW and OMW but still my game is far to bright and shines in orange light, even at night. Strangely the game also looks bad when I disable shaders wich causes everything to be very flat:

(sry no better screenshots atm, but you can see re-made vanilla faces with normal maps tho :) )

I should add that with my new installation I have a fresh ini so that doesnt seem to be the problem in my case.
This is how the game looks at night for me: http://i.imgur.com/KWFiHDC.jpg

I had MGEXE installed previously, maybe there are some registry keys or something I have to remove?

Help would be much appreciated, I really would like to test some stuff under the correct lighting conditions.
