The Splash folder must contain some images. You can copy it from the CD afaik. Installing with wine should do that automatically. The manual install guide might need updating then.

Copied the content from the folder '_Support_Language_Independent_OS_Independent_Files' into my 'Splash' folder, works fine now
One last question: I start in some kind of hollow flying around. How do I actually start a game? -- Lol Google is my friend, the --new-game switch did it
And one more problem: No sound…
