DDS MIPS Maps Format

What is the preferred MIPS Maps encoding format for DDS in openMW? I need to convert a number of TGA/BMP files I'm planning to utilize GIMP/BIMP. Does anyone have a BIMP template for conversion to DDS with generation of MIPS Maps into preferred format. I have just been using gimp default and they appear to work with anti-aliasing and look ok but I would rather optimize them for the best compatible format.
