Alpha layers conflict (disappearing hair)

Post by Tes96 »

I read this post on the official forums and it reminded me that I, too, experience the "disappearing hair" when using modded hair under water. And it's a bug that has never found a definite fix. Will this be something that OpenMW will be able to address and possibly cure?

I'm pretty sure this is fixable in vanilla Morrowind by adjusting the flags for the alpha node in nifskope.

Avoiding alpha blending would help; intersecting alpha blended shapes are impossible to sort correctly, though just having them nearby to each other can cause sorting issues too. If possible, it would be better to use alpha testing instead. That'll cause sharper edges on the hair, but it won't confuse depth sorting and it may perform slightly better.

I am using a mod collection, but this is happening for me during rain as well. It might be generalized to how water is handled.
