Github Readme

Post by nwah »

The current Github readme contains the entire huge changelog since the beginning of the project. This information is available on the wiki, and thus the Readme should simply link to the wiki.

Should it? I'm not so sure-it might be just as handy to have it on hand rather than forcing people to refer to another thing. Is there any harm from the whole changelog being on git?

I prefer having the changelog handy. If it were removed from the readme, I'd like it if we still maintained a "changelog.txt" file

Debian wants' an upstream changelog, I think Redhat does as well.

So ripping it out and say 'refer to wiki' is not an option. What is in the source is holier than what is in the wiki, not the other way around.

Having a separate changelog (change.log, changelog.md or whatever) is a fine solution.

A lot of times I'm not connected to the internet, and one thing I love about Morrowind is that I don't have to be connected to the internet to play the game or read any of the files. I wouldn't want to have to be redirected to a wiki site online.
