Actually I get this:

If I have fallback bsa-s in config file. This allows for no way to safely hit cancel so I delete those lines, which I see you did not have to do in your setup. And in my current setup it doesn't say "Could not find the data files location".

To clarify: I can get the game to run. When I hit the New option, it crashes without giving any extra Ogre or loading errors.

Welp, here's a screenshot of what happens when I hit new with fallback BSA-s.

Obviously don't want the Bethesda stuff in there. However without fallback BSA-s the game crashes on clicking New.

Weird, the NIFs I made work on the Linux version of OpenMW and not windows...

for shits and giggles, can you remove the fallbacks and copy over the sky_atmosphere.nif from Bethesda and see if that fixes things?

If that fixes things, then we need that ASAP since it is used by default (hardcoded) by OpenMW.

Well, I guess I'm off to play DMC 4 or make other models.

I don't understand what you are trying to do... there should be no fallbacks to BSA files, nor NIFs or whatever. Point your data directory to where the openmw-template is and that should be the end of it.

I find it really odd that it works for me, without Morrowind. I find it hard to believe that there is a windows/linux system difference at work here.

As in screenshots I presented earlier, if I just delete fallbacks to BSA files and launch the game, then click New, it crashes without explanation. What I was trying to do was make the fallbacks target the nifs that would not load for me like they load for you.

I'll give it try on windows when I get a chance... maybe I can find a fix. *crosses fingers*

Just tried under windows, no problems... template works as expected, just like linux.

Once everything is in the right place, you should see openmw-template.omwgame in your your list content files in the openmw-launcher. If it isn't, that means you haven't put it in the right directory.

./data/openmw-template.omwgame needs to be copied to C:/Users/<username>/My Documents/My Games/OpenMW/data

files in ./font need to be copied C:/Program Files/OpenMW 0.36.1/resources/mygui

My windows openmw.cfg file:

:?

I spent the whole day on this and on the surface it seems like I did what you listed. I'll try again.

Edit: And following these simple instructions I still get the same result. Crash on clicking New.

These contain all steps. So question is, where did I go wrong? Did I miss anything??? I have an old computer with win7 OS, I'll try on that in the meanwhile. I'm using 8.

Edit: Same problem in Windows 7, so my conclusion is that I'm doing something wrong.
