Hey all!
I recently discovered the OpenMW project via IndieDB.
I am currently working on a game project of mine that is heavily influenced by the Early works of Edgar Rice Burroughs, Space: 1889 and Red Dead Redemption. I am looking at using the OpenMW project as the engine of choice for my project.
So I need to ask a few questions -
Art Related -
1. What 3D / 2D Art formats does OpenMW Accept?
2. How is Terrain generated? (Heightmap? Sculpting? etc.)
Technical -
1. What Graphics Library is this based off of? (OpenGL? DirectX?)
2. Is the OpenMW Engine Cross platform compatible? (Linux? Windows? MacOSX?)
3. How Stable is OpenMW?
Modding
1. Would I be able to redistribute a custom version (Asset wise) of the OpenCS?
Thank you for your time,
- Ben
Making a standalone game with OpenMW?
Re: Making a standalone game with OpenMW?
You should read the available documentation about OpenMW.
Re: Making a standalone game with OpenMW?
It's cross-platform, all the platforms you listed are supported.
It's buggy and unoptimized right now. We are not "done" with development, so to speak.
OpenGL and DirectX are both supported.

Hey Ap0,ap0 wrote:You should read the available documentation about OpenMW.
I had a look at the documentation.
I did not have much success finding any info on model formats / 2D Formats.
Same goes with terrain generation
Which was why I was asking here
