Re: Portmod - Mod Manager
Mator Smash is now the recommended utility instead of Wrye Bash for making that kind of patch for the games it supports. Only because Wrye Bash doesn't support all the relevant records for those games. Mator Smash doesn't support merging mods into the patch entirely as Wrye Bash does, nor does it h...

Re: Portmod - Mod Manager
Preferential Features: I mentioned in a previous update that I’m planning functionality to handle mod ordering choices for when a user wants to prefer a certain mod over another conflicting mod (a situation where there is no “right” way to do it, essentially). I’ve given further thought to this and...

Re: Post 1.0 Plans
I just want to second halbe here. I want to see some elements of the UI reduced, though not to the same level, and others built upon. I want to still have an in-game UI map, but rather than having it by default, I want to have to acquire maps of various places, which would in turn unlock portions of...

Re: OpenMW YouTube videos
Normal maps made with MindTex are derivative works of the original textures, so from a copyright standpoint, the Nexus is doing the legally safe thing by stopping the upload when you don't have the original texture creator's permission. Even when the originals are both needed and not included? Oh, ...

Re: Morrowind “Oral History”
Main issue with Bethesda games is that they are not the only one doing open world RPGs anymore. Back in the 2002, you had your Morrowind and low budget Gothic. Nowadays every game is sort-of RPG and the open world while Bethesda continues to be dirt cheap. And of course that Bethesda games are gett...

Re: OpenMW YouTube videos
If you upload only the normals and make that very explicit, and that it is dependent on the original work, that really shouldn't be any different from uploading a plugin that's dependent on another one that you don't have permission to change and re-upload. That is, you shouldn't need permission. U...

Re: OpenMW YouTube videos
last time I uploaded MindTex'd normal maps for a mod without asking the author I got suspended, which I don't personally agree with because they're kind of useless without the source textures, but they're the rules. If you upload only the normals and make that very explicit, and that it is dependen...

Re: Newbie here going into Morrowind for the first time, any suggestions/advice/ whatever else for me?
I’m a newbie myself and am inclined to go all out on modding for my first go. Oh yeah, if anyone doesn't want to moderate thiings for a first run, that's totally fair. I mean, I just gave the advice of not making a pure mage for a first run, but you know what I did on mine? High Elf with Apprentice...

Re: Newbie here going into Morrowind for the first time, any suggestions/advice/ whatever else for me?
My tips would be -- agility is well known to increase hit chance with weapons, but keep in mind also that willpower increases your chance of successfully casting spells. I second the advice to save, save, save. Patch for Purists is highly recommended, since it only fixes bugs, unlike previous patch ...
