I don't think that helps him as gog delivers their games as an installable .exe.

I actually think I'm going to keep the Acer and instead follow one of these budget pc buying guides. if you guys think it's worthwhile.

Not necessarily looking to get something that meaty, just something that can run OpenMW at ~ Xbox 360 levels of detail. Right now I'm running OpenMW on an Acer c720 and its running reasonably but I have a feeling once distant lands get added back in it's gonna chug.

Don't know much about system specs: looking to get a new laptop, and while I'm at it I'd like something that can play OpenMW well. I know that's a pretty low bar at the moment, but I'd also like it to run smoothly when distant lands get added back in and I'd like to turn shadows and water on as well...

Just wanted to add my hopes that someone will add an Xbox-esque ui option post 1.0 - I really appreciate the support as is but navigating the mouse cursor with the analog stick gets tiring after a while and cuts my play sessions shorter than they otherwise would.

I'm using the daily ppa and it still seems to be on .37?

What we think of astronomically correct shouldn't be a factor when we're talking about the world of TES. That's part of the charm. Reflexively demanding that the celestial bodies behave in a way consistent with the universe we live in is frankly boring and missing the point.

I've got 360 pad working on various Ubuntu installs, I think 14.04 and later.

My 360 pad works perfectly using xboxdrvr in Ubuntu 14.10.
