I've got something resembling a before/after shot in the same frame due to a bug.

I think the maps stop getting applied after I wander around for a while. Maybe video memory runs out or something.

Wait, wait... you can compile, study or use it. You cannot distribute the compiled form. You have to distribute the code form. But still you can state that the COMPILED and ready to use program can distributed only by you for a fee. I'm pretty sure you can't do that with the GPL. Software that cannot be legally compiled is not Free Software according to the definition since it conflicts with Freedom 1: The freedom to study...

The main reason that I can see, that commercial game companies do not use open source game engines is that the best engines tend to be proprietary since their development is funded by a company, and I don't see how changing the licensing of OpenMW would automatically make it a better engine.
