Re: Suggestion for 1.0 release date

I wouldn't necessarily rule out Morrowind for free; they've done it with the earlier Elder Scrolls games and it's a very id/Bethesda thing to do. I don't think they are going to do that... after all, Morrowind is still played and modded quite a lot, while Arena and Daggerfall have not aged very wel...

Re: Some ideas I have

All good and valid ideas, but I'd say most, if not all of them would probably be possible with post-1.0 mods. Yes, the keychain mod uses MWSE and is not compatible with OpenMW, but in the future, there will be better ways to realize a mod like this with OpenMW.

Re: Delay Dark Brotherhood attack without a mod

I agree - while having the DB attack from day one is a horrible design error and basically causes the early game to break for several reasons, it is not an ENGINE bug, which are the only ones OpenMW should fix. Yes, Mods CAN cause all kinds of problems and incompatibilities, but in this case, it is ...

Re: some textures aren't rendered correctly

And if the tweak of the mw-codepatch is added in, it will be appreciated, too, as it really improves on the effect and wouldmake the transition towards usage of the modern material techniques more fluent and easier across the mods. These are just my two cents on the matter. I'm happy enough that th...

Re: some textures aren't rendered correctly

I added environment maps a few minutes ago before reading your post. The "fake bump map" mods look a little different now (similar to Vanilla w/o code patch, I think). http://i.imgur.com/BCR2viPm.jpg I don't know what the "fake bump map" option in MCP exactly does and I have no ...

Re: Elder-scrolls IV Oblivion

Oh, that looks promising. I'd like to see open cities + better cities with this. Having a 64-bit engine and high settings and texture mods would prevent crashes after 4GB and that's after expanding the memory limit. You can already use ENBoost for that... As much as I'd like to see an OpenOblivion ...

Re: some textures aren't rendered correctly

NiTextureEffect (reflection) is still not implemented in OpenMW, right? It says in the bug tracker that it is not used much in the game, which is correct, but a lot of mods use it, though I believe most of them to make the fake bump mapping of the Morrowind Code patch work. Which is no longer neces...

Re: Cell preloading

Heh, would definitely kill the system loading all the interior cells as well as exteriors, however it got me thinking, it would be cool if a sort of low LOD / poly interior based on whats in it and neutral lighting conditions could be generated to be used as what is seen through windows where the b...

You speak as there is lot of heated discussion on the Internet... well, it might be possible. Yeah, there is. But then again, about what is there no heated discussion on the internet? Anyway, yes, you are right about the wrong questions and assumptions. Frame does not equal frame and yes, see...

Re: OpenMW 0.39.0

Was just re-installing windows for a mate of mine and moved him from an fx6300 to an fx8350. I've found that while they manage great with more multi-thread optimized games (most modern titles on DX11), my 2500k blows them out of the water for single threaded tasks. I think its more of a factor of h...
