Re: Procedural grass

Oh that’s absolutely how I expect it would be done. Extra geometry sounds like too much work, especially when puddles could work so easily in textures. Perhaps this would be a switch like light up windows, but instead of time of day, use weather. For that matter we could implement snow in much the s...

Re: Procedural grass

Apparently that is basically how it would be done: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=5049&p=54084#p54084

My questions about using a color map to procedurally modify the color still stands though, as well as using a map for weather related things like rain puddles.

Procedural grass

So I've been thinking about this since noticing the grass in Red Dead Redemption 2. It struck me because of how natural it looked as the grass near roads gradually got longer and denser the further from the road you got. Is there a typical technique games use for this? It would be great when we even...

Re: Better handling of mod conflicts and mod merging

Hmm, I haven't entirely thought all of this through, but it seems like the additive/subtractive/multiplicative system only partially solves the problem and creates new ones. I suppose it avoids catastrophic conflicts where things are completely overwritten, but it introduces lots of probably uninten...

Re: Native Animated Containers and Graphics Herbalism support

Thank you, all of these features are great! I’ve been wanting proper implementation of the glowing windows for a while now!

My only opinion on the nexus mod is that perhaps we should make it even more obvious that you require a nightly for now with a link to the nightlies.

Re: OpenOB Organisation and Planning

Not to rain on your parade, because enthusiasm for making OpenMW better is certainly always appreciated, but this may be a bit premature. I am not a dev, so feel free to take everything I say with a grain of salt, but at this stage, I think the best way to make OpenOB happen is to help OpenMW reach ...

Re: Editor manual outdated in downloads

People have had plenty of time to say if they didn’t think this was a good idea. I think you’re free to make the change and if it causes a bunch of fuss, it’s alwasy easy to change it back.

Re: Subview border

Lol correct on all counts! But ya, I wouldn’t bother with config stuff until we have a framework for it that Zini has approved. This is super minor and was always meant as a suggestion.

Re: Editor manual outdated in downloads

The documentation isn't really finished... Neither is the CS, but we don’t hide that away so the public can’t find it. The docs already answer a large number of basic questions. If we can avoid more tedious questions by posting it I think it’s obvious we should. I’ve answered dozens of questions on...

Re: Subview border

Well damn. I thought you were referring to some config file style sheet that I didn’t know about. I am doing my best to avoid trying to set up a dev environment on my computer because I know I won’t have the patience. I struggle enough with github :( Which means I’d definitely love to see this as a ...
