Re: Stealth

Hi Laicus- The sort of things you are asking for would have to be added post-1.0, and through functionality that will need to be developed as part of de-hardcoding the current game mechanics. The vision for 1.0 is to exactly replicate the vanilla engine mechanics, but to enable these sort of changes...

Re: Horrible performance with Distant Land and Higher Than Natural Draw Distance

my graphics card is an AMD card: HD6670, dated around Q2/Q3 2011. Old AMD drivers are notoriously bad. Hard to say what you are running since Windows did it for you. And even if it's an updated driver, it might be selecting a legacy code path to support an older card. Sorry, I know this isn't very ...

another issue of certain objects and terrain flashing to pure black and white has arisen.
GPU and driver version are going to be the culprits there, but one of our graphics devs will have to chime in.

Re: Educate me: fixed function vs programmable pipeple in OpenGL

I was going to look at the Steam hardware survey to see how common old OpenGL support is, but the survey is down. :(

Re: Educate me: fixed function vs programmable pipeple in OpenGL

Thanks everybody, this is very informative. For myself, I'm happy I am learning the shader pipeline after reading what you are saying. I'll keep going forward with that. For OpenMW, please correct me where I am wrong with this statement, but it seems like if someone with the skills, time, and motiva...

Educate me: fixed function vs programmable pipeple in OpenGL

So I'm making this a new thread instead of burdening the active discussion in the Very Low FPS thread, but I've seen "fixed function" thrown around a few times and I want to learn some things. I started teaching myself OpenGL a bit ago, and I'm barely a few hours and a few dozen lines into learning ...

Re: Very low FPS

In addition to this, keep in mind the bus-factor. I'm not throwing my hat on either side of this debate (I'm not qualified) but I would like to point out that elegantly designed code with well-written documentation should eliminate the bus factor. And that goes for hand-written systems or using lib...
