Re: OK to send in a bug fix submission?

Yeah, git can be configured to use Unix line endings in the repository, and whatever your OS likes for the local clone.

Re: Improve fighting system brainstorming

As for the whole random chance of attack success thing, in my mind, I view it as simulating if you hit your target in an armoured part or a fleshy part. If we're going to be splitting every mesh into a bunch of new vertex groups, then we could label plates and joints/gaps on an armour piece differen...

Re: Shadow of Rappel

It means you don't have to bother implementing a character creation system if every possibility is still Harrison Ford.

Re: Story draft version 2

If we wanted a quick solution that covered everything, that could work - provided the script was in some way entertaining, although it'd be much more of a tech demo than a game. If it went an a slightly more Stanley Parable direction, it could be adapted in a direction that would make it potentially...

Re: Proposal for getting this project done

As their assets are based on Morrowind's, Bethesda probably have enough of a claim on them to prevent them being released as CC-BY 3, which is what the ES requires. However, it'd probably be good to get those assets ported to OpenMW's native format anyway, as that'd give a good mod for playing Morro...

Re: Story draft version 2

We could go for the whole 'rich people make a medieval resort' idea, and rely on the 'any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic' adage.

Re: improving the build system

The compatibility layer is provided by Microsoft, though, and is done as kernel modules rather than a userland application, so could be faster than Wine. Canonical have just helped package up Ubuntu and probably provide test data.

Re: auto attack toggle

I guess he means something like the auto walk button, where you press it, and then it attacks as often as possible until you press it again. It just saves you spam clicking.

Re: improving the build system

It's not really reinterpreting system calls, as instead of being a usermode program mapping them to different system calls for the host OS, like Wine does, it's the NT kernel directly fulfilling the calls, so the only overhead is that it wasn't originally designed to, so some stuff may happen in a s...

Re: improving the build system

That's how Cygwin works, but this new stuff does literally run the same ELF files as you'd have on an Ubuntu machine. I could install it right now, then add the OpenMW PPA to it and attempt to apt-get openmw. it'd fail due to unmet dependencies (probably) or maybe just at runtime, as there's absolut...
