Re: Switching on/off a total conversion mod is annoying

Bear in mind that you can definitely set any setting you'd normally use the config files for as command line arguments and that you might also be able to specify which config file to read as aa command line argument. I'm not exactly sure how any of this is done, but it should be possible to make eve...

Re: Switching on/off a total conversion mod is annoying

I've asked Zini before about if I could do that, and would it be merged if I did, and the answer was basically that data directories may end up replaced by something else fairly quickly post-1.0, and weird things could happen with regards to user expectations if a whole launcher tab suddenly disappe...

Re: Example Suite version 0.17 released!

The original is pretty grey. The colourised version is pretty saturated. Maybe something with colour but more muted tones would be better?

Re: Looking to understand how to work with OSG in OpenMW, would this tutorial help?

If you're going to be working with OSG, it might be a good idea to have some knowledge about what you can do with OpenGL and how it's achieved. Also, knowing some GLSL could help with modifying OpenMW's shaders. I'm pretty sure that a lot of the stuff an in-depth OpenGL tutorial series will teach yo...

And unlike last time it's actually been approved within a reasonable timeframe.

Re: Application: thegrimblade

If you find the right problem with OpenMW, actually using C++ shouldn't be the biggest hurdle to fixing it if you've never used it before. A good chunk of the stuff I've done with OpenMW involved figuring out the C++ as I went, having mostly worked on Java, C# and a bunch of scripting languages befo...

Re: OpenMW performance vs Vanilla+MCP - are there any benchmarks/comparisons?

If everything's working, Oblivion (and other games using basically the same version of Gamebryo, such as Fallout New Vegas) should read the archives specified in the .ini in increasing priority from left to right, and then, with even higher priority, any archives with names matching those of esp fil...

Re: Openmw is the future.

Squadron 42 (Star Citizen's single player component) should release at the end of the year. Even if it turns out not to live up to the hype it's generated in terms of actually being fun, it should show the absolute limit of what modern hardware can push out in a lot of aspects that a lot of triple A...

Re: OpenMW performance vs Vanilla+MCP - are there any benchmarks/comparisons?

I'm pretty sure Oblivion is supposed to allow archives for replacers but has bugs with archive invalidation, which there are workarounds for. Most mod managers have at least one of these workarounds built into them.

Re: CPU and Single Core Implications

All of those are parts of the graphics subsystem. Culling involves discarding parts of the scene graph which will appear off-screen, such as things behind the camera or off the side (or potentially even things which are behind other things, but OpenMW can't do that, as it would require changes to th...
