Re: Elder-scrolls IV Oblivion

This one is just a test to see if a new capture software will look ok. OBS is difficult to use for me - I can hardly figure out how to record anything. On the other hand there is no watermark and it forces me to use higher resolution (because I can't figure out how to make it fit to the window size...

Re: Elder-scrolls IV Oblivion

Head tracking : This is just an existing feature of OpenMW but the code had to be tweaked a little to get it working again. I think FO3 and/or Skyrim actually specify head tracking in some ESM/ESP records but I'm not sure of the details. Leveled Creatures : Creatures' skeletons and body parts are s...

Re: Elder-scrolls IV Oblivion

HI, I'll be happy to provide some commentary here if you're interested in some details. Animated doors ( and this ): Some doors in the newer NIF files have animations specified within the NIF. In contrast, OpenMW doors mostly (always?) work by rotating the whole door object. This was exciting for me...

Re: Oblivion Support in OpenMW: Organisation and Planning

Didn't realise Bandicam was upsetting people :-) One good thing about Bandicam is ease of use - I just have to press the red "record" button and that's it

What would you recommend for a laptop with a weak GPU?

Re: OpenOB Organisation and Planning

I don't believe there's any real co-ordination for Oblivion development and of course getting OpenMW 1.0 is (and should be) the focus of the devs. Having said that I'm experimenting with an old version (0.36) to get various stuff working. I view that as proof-of-concept rather than production qualit...

Re: Addin database

I don't have a good grasp of how much effort is involved, but why not build it and see if people find it useful? The algorithm to detect if a record is being modified is already available (e.g. see OpenCS).

Re: Elder-scrolls IV Oblivion

Just a quick message to say that the new NIF code restructuring is making progress. The renders and physics are both working but some functionality has regressed in the rewrite (e.g. ragdoll and character animations) - I need to find time to get them included again. On the positive side I got vertex...

Re: Elder-scrolls IV Oblivion

Currently re-writing the NIF code - up to now various bits were hacked/grafted into existing code and that really can't be maintained in the longer term. But I've decided to leave existing code for TES3 alone for now. Progress is slow. On top of that someone will have to port all the Ogre code into ...

Well, I for one am really excited to hear the possibility of a custom physics engine for OpenMW

Re: OpenMW’s mb/s data load rate?

The big performance advantage of BA2s over BSAs (both of which come in compressed and uncompressed formats to optimise for different situations) is that texture BA2s hold DDS images based on their content, not as individual files. In the table of file names, there's a pointer to the DDS header (whi...
