As both Amenophis and I said; provide a mod that just disables vanilla assets that show this behaviour and let the scripts run normally. Keep it simple.

That is the Hlaalu Stronghold. Since the script that disabled it in the start only runs when the player enter the cell the distant land will show it before you get near. I saw someone claiming to have better framerates with MinGW instead of MSVC, so maybe we've got a hot path that GCC optimises much better than MSVC does if there's a Linux versus Windows comparison with similar results. MSVC supports using clang... so we can try to compare cl against msvc as well.

Try to get out of their line of sight and hide. As of 0.45 (or 0.46?) we have navmesh navigation which allows for enemies to not be stupid and work around obstacles. So what was happening in the original game is that they would just get stuck running into a wall trying to get directly to you. Now......

@anyoldname3 is there a way we can 'cache' these? I could set up squid on our VPS for example and let cloudflare cache it for us? Or possibly find a way to have another CDN handle this?
