Re: Software Rendering Mode for OpenMW

What I'm saying is that GPU utilisation isn't necessary for games like Morrowind, which didn't even look good when it released in 2002. OpenMW can run Morrowind, but isn't Morrowind itself. OpenMW's rendering is more complex than Morrowind, and is likely to become more complicated as time goes on. ...

What I'm saying is that GPU utilisation isn't necessary for games like Morrowind, which didn't even look good when it released in 2002. CPUs can render everything the game has to offer and then some. Using a GPU for a game like this is like buying a six bedroom home for one person. Nice to have, but...

Software Rendering Mode for OpenMW

Hey, I was wondering if the addition of a software rendering mode for OpenMW would be possible?. You might be wondering why anyone would request such a feature, well it's primarily due to my research into retro PC games and how they were developed, and I believe there are several key advantages that...

Re: Tamriel Rebuilt + MorroUI merger?

That is unfortunate to hear. I mean if someone doesn't like to explore the rest of Morrowind, they could just decide not to explore those extra areas?. I'd agree with you if it was some random, immersion breaking mod but Tamriel Rebuilt seems to fit in very nicely with the rest of the game. You'd th...

Tamriel Rebuilt + MorroUI merger?

Not sure if this idea has been brought up before, but I think it would great if mods such as Tamriel Rebuilt, Skyrim: Home of the Nords, and MorroUI was merged into OpenMW and made available as options that can be selected/deselected out of the box. I feel these are essential mods that blend in nice...

Re: OpenMW Nightly builds

Appimages are an option at least, I know RC builds are released far less often than nightly/dev builds, so it would make sense to just produce an Appimage every time an RC build is made public. Since dev builds are updated daily, a Flatpak would be put to better use. This forum isn't very popular it...

Re: OpenMW Nightly builds

Maybe RC's could become Appimages, and dev builds could be Flatpaks in it's place?.

Re: OpenMW Nightly builds

I'm just surprised it wasn't done sooner, the stable Flatpak is fine enough but if you want to be on the bleeding edge it's rather cumbersome to install the dev/nightly version. Even if it was only updated every week or so, it'd be nice to have.

Re: OpenMW Nightly builds

Flatpaks are just plain awesome, it would alleviate a lot of the headaches involved with installing dev builds and be cross platform across different Linux distros. :D

Re: OpenMW Nightly builds

Would a development Flatpak be possible?. I was going to recommend Appimages as well, but perhaps not.
