Re: Advanced rendering

Forward+ seems like a much better fit the Morrowind content. It's basically a forward renderer which is culling the light sources in a compute shader. The implementation is in Vulkan, though. Not sure if there really are benefits with OpenGL because the driver probably won't be able to to figure ou...

Re: Release process changes

Well, that clears things up for me. Different views on the world, different conclusion.

As a compromise, how about this:

1. reorganize the release process in the forums (and possibly on the blog)
2. make threads private if people keep abusing them

Re: Release process changes

I understand where you are coming from, but how does this solution address when people flagrantly disregard any and all "prerelease" messages we stamp on everything, edit those bits out, and post them around the internet for social media points, ad clicks, etc? How does it address the res...

Re: Release process changes

There have been many good proposals on how to fix the current communication. You just seem to ignore or outright dismiss all of them. Anyway, I'll try to summarize a possible solution. Problem 1: git release tag tag release candidates as openmw-version-RC tag release as openmw-version release on git...

Re: Release process changes

@swick, @darkbasic, I'm sorry but you guys are completely wrong. Maybe it's because you don't have any involvement in our release process. None of what you are suggesting will help solve any of the problems we are having. Can you please stop telling me I'm wrong and instead tell me *why* I'm wrong?...

Re: Release process changes

All "private" discussions can and should be made public after the release is finalized. We're not trying to hide things from the community, just trying to prevent miscommunication. I'm sorry raevol, but what you're trying to do is removing communication and not preventing miscommunication...

Re: Release process changes

Another part of the problem is that on sites like Reddit, where up-votes are social capital, leaks and such are incentivized: the person who pushes some secret knowledge typically gets all sorts of up-votes, which may not really do a whole ton in terms of rewarding them, but certainly fire off the ...

Re: Release process changes

Didn't know it was that much of a problem. Anyway, why not try some less drastic changes first? If it happens again you can still go ahead and make bigger changes. It's not like you have to do it now or never.

Re: Release process changes

Just putting my two cents out there: I really like that this project is completely open with all communications and I'm not convinced that one reddit post seen only by a few people is a big problem. It's understandable that you don't want this to happen but I'm also sure that people on here are gene...
