Just a packaging error - Git failed to extract a current commit. Probably it happened because OpenMW was built from zipped source code package rather than from an actual OpenMW git repo, or because build machine does not have Git available in PATH.

everything that worked in the original unmodified engine (i.e. without MCP, MWSE or MGE XE) also works in OpenMW. And an only to achieve it is to use the original unmodified engine. There always will be edge cases which work in original engine, but do not work in OpenMW due to regressions, dependen...

Do not mix mods for German and English versions of game. You try to enter "balmora, guild of fighters" location, which has a German name on your setup (something like "balmora, kriegergilde"). Since names do not match, you can not enter the cell.

It is an empty file filled by zero data. That's why OpenMW tells you that the file is invalid.
