Re: Bringing OpenMorrowind into the future
I'd like to suggest that maybe hitting people with "no" is perhaps not the best strategy for cultivating an active community and getting more people involved with the project. Instead of a point-by-point refutation, maybe the OpenMW team could be vocal about praising and thanking people f...

Re: Bringing OpenMorrowind into the future
words I just want to point out that this is maybe not the best community management. Someone cared enough about your project to brainstorm a list of ideas they thought could help make the game better. Even if some of the ideas were unrealistic, the intentions were good, and the original post was fu...

Re: Please stop implementing Vanilla Bugs as Features
I agree with the OP. It's absurd to let devotion to design philosophy come in the way of user experience. The user experience is what matters. I know that's not a popular opinion, but I think any team collab can be vulnerable to groupthink, which causes valid criticisms to be waved away without givi...

Re: Statics floating in midair, how to reset?
I admit I don't know the first thing about programming, but for such a moddable game, this seems like a behavior that would be really good to not recreate in OpenMW.

Statics floating in midair, how to reset?
I have an odd problem, perhaps some wise people here will know how to fix it. I've been modding my game quite a bit lately, adding a mod here, subtracting a mod there when I discover an issue or an incompatibility. Recently, I took City of Balmora out of my mod load list, a mod which made some prett...

Re: Recent Negativity Regarding OpenMW
Developers can't be expected to work on OpenMW and also manage PR. It is just another impediment to getting OpenMW to 1.0 This is exactly what I'm talking about. No, PR isn't an impediment to getting OpenMW to 1.0, it's an essential tool for getting OpenMW to 1.0. If you had spent the last year adv...

Re: Recent Negativity Regarding OpenMW
You dislike "negativity", yep? I think you will dislike indifference even more. This is a good distillation of the anxiety I have regarding the project. Speaking for myself, I'm not seeking to blast holes in team morale and sink the ship. My real goal is course correction. I would rather ...

Re: Recent Negativity Regarding OpenMW
I've sort of lost faith in OpenMW. Notably because it's dragged on for so long, and there still isn't a 1.0 release to show for it. There were threads touting how OpenMW was "approaching to 1.0 release at rapid pace" almost half a decade ago, a notion which wasn't challenged by any of the ...

Re: It's really important to have graphical parity with MGE.
Why is it important that 1.0 includes the fancy graphical features when version 1.1 might include them? If we include them for version 1.0, it only means that 1.0 will be named 0.4x instead of 1.0, and that 1.1 will be named 1.0. No other difference. Why does it matter? Meaning no disrespect to you...

It's really important to have graphical parity with MGE.
We all love and support you as you move towards 1.0, but this is important. OpenMW won't become the new gold standard for playing Morrowind unless it equals or exceeds MGE graphically. As janky as it is, MGE currently stands head and shoulders above OpenMW in visual appeal. Its solution for pre-rend...
