Re: found a huge issue in the new release (0.44.0 release)

turns out that making more swap didn't work after all, but eliminating all content from Tamriel Rebuilt and Project Tamriel, brought OpenMW's ram usage (8GB) from ~80% to a much more reasonable ~23%. doesn't make OpenMW any better on what by all rights should be hella plenty of ram for a 14 year old...

Re: found a huge issue in the new release (0.44.0 release)

so you're saying that the GPU diver caused those apps to use so much ram that it hard-locks your computer? or you're sure that CUPS just blocked them from running?

Re: found a huge issue in the new release (0.44.0 release)

Mint is a mainstream os My experience with Mint has always been that it changes very little about Ubuntu, but what it does change, it usually changes in batshit crazy ways which break things. It's not impossible that they've done something that makes the graphics driver eat lots of RAM when asked t...

Re: found a huge issue in the new release (0.44.0 release)

I did a workaround for what can not be accused of being efficient memory management, I created a nearly 38GB swap partition, the game works just fine now ::edit:: Mint is a mainstream os, the very mods I'm using now were the very mods I've been using in 0.43.0 in Mint 19, Miint 18.3, and ubuntu 16.0...

Re: found a huge issue in the new release (0.44.0 release)

I uninstalled the ppa version and just tried the flatpak, the ram usage is 60%, still higher than I'm comfortable with, but it's not hard-locking my computer any more... long story short, it's not just weather after all, in the flatpak I waited out a ash storm with no issue, it's not just distant te...

Re: found a huge issue in the new release (0.44.0 release)

exact same loadout as yesterday, pre 0.44.0 with no issue, but I'll try reloading the last save with all the mods off with absolutely clean loadout, just morrowind, tribunal, bloodmoon esms: couldn't sleep in the streets of balmora again, but I couldn't with the mods the other day either. couldn't t...

found a huge issue in the new release (0.44.0 release)

now in-game rain is cancer for ram, I've experienced this in balmora and suran, both places were raining, both times like a fast moving cancer, it ate my ram so quickly and so completely, there wasn't even any left to Ctrl+Alt+F1 to kill it in htop. ultimate result is death of the computer, had to h...
