Re: MCM for OpenMW

Not as far as I know but with the new possibilities this engine brings it would be trivial to make.

Re: SWIT

Will it support muptiple installation destinations (in case of OpenMW, multiple "Data Files" directories) in user's home dir? and the Morrowind reference Lolz. There will be a configuration file with a category for every game. You'd have, say, [main] for the application settings, [morrowi...

SWIT

This is a project I would like to present. It will be unaffiliated to OpenMW but it's my hope that both projects will benefit each other. This is not an attempt at reducing this community's workload; if you think you can do a better job than me by all means do so. Suggestions are encouraged. It stan...

Would the Nexus people allow this? Sounds like it would remove ad revenue for them as well as not contribute to their statistics.

Re: Mod packaging and repositories

If we can use, say, Pacman and Aptitude for OpenMW mods but not Yum then some users are left in the dark. Also, I'm not sure if any of them offer all of the features necessary. In most cases those package managers resolve conflicts by detecting them and asking the user to make a choice. This is not...

Re: Mod packaging and repositories

Also don't forget about the people who are still left on Windows. Unless the team writes something like OpenTTD's Bananas (or adapts it to its own needs), they're going to be left out. Plus, someone would have to pay for those servers, so it seems Windows users are left out in the cold with that sy...

Re: Mod packaging and repositories

Reviving this discussion. I've spent some time thinking about this and it seems like some people like the idea. There are two things I'd like feedback on however. First, could we adapt existing tools for this purpose? The main downsides I see to this are stratification and the need to maintain funct...

Re: Mod packaging and repositories

The issue is not picking a license that is not the default or even one that is libre - the issue is people not picking a license at all. You might not want to force freedom, but you do want to force clarity. There is literally nobody who suffers from such clarity. GPL is not as permissive as most p...

Re: Mod packaging and repositories

Forcing freedom down people's throats is not a good idea. Even Stallman himself believes that people should be convinced rather than obliged. That was said with tongue in cheek... just saying that the default should be a open license, in plain sight. Allow them to change if they want to, but encour...

Re: Mod packaging and repositories

We're not worried about the wild. Why not? If you can't force it, people will run off, deviate from your rules and likely make something that is more popular but without the rules you're laying down. This is like, Cult 101. Just look at Apple. In practice it would mean you'd still get tons of mods ...
