Because there is currently a problem with the Bloodmoon installation, I have also tried playing without installing the expansions, but the results are the same; OpenMW (OS X) crashes to desktop while initiating a new game. Here is my crash log:

OpenMW is consistently crashing before completion of the Bloodmoon installation. The last message that I see before the crash is something about "uncompressed packages" or something. Here is the log (see attachment):
