New OpenMW 0.46 is online, please test. :)

It was too much work to get the split package madness working with OSG, so this is the only version of 0.46 on the PPA compiled against OSG 3.6; so... there may be bugs/regressions. There is always the nightly that should work better.

I believe I know what the issue is and it was a long standing issue with 0.46 focal that escaped my attention until now.

Working on it... downstream openscenegraph changes breaks things yet again.

Give me a few hours and PPA should back to normal soon.

To be fair, bionic is a bit of a mess... we got really. hit hard with the Qt issue but managed to work around it. It was my fault while prepping both new OSG and MyGUI packages that would be used with 0.47. I have fixed the issue for 0.46 on 20.04 (bionic) in ppa:openmw/openmw by removing the mygui ...

and anything else mygui related:

apt search mygui | grep installed

But that's only necessary for those running 0.46

0.47 fixes itself

Let's nail down some terminology first so that no one is confused. Reboot, in a computer context literally means re-loading the boot-loader. It can't (and shouldn’t) be used when talking about applications. I assume you mean restarting OpenMW several times to get things to work? Can you provide more...

Packages were updated in prep for 0.47 RC phase.

So if you are waiting for a working nightly, just wait another day for a build to trigger and it should resolve itself.

For openmw 0.46 you'll need to unininstall mysql; apt update; then apt install mysql again.

I know there was a healthy discussion about async behaviour, co-routines and threading for example.

How are currently handled when it comes to saving?
