Oh, are we fanboys of our forgotten lord Nicolay? Silence! I hear the Zini approaches from the East! Get back to the mouse pits and the refactoring mines you lowly fools! :ugeek:

Hey folks,

I talked with Nicolay Korslund about his new project and his decision to depart from OpenMW. Here's what he said.

About OpenMW: Ah well, I feel pretty bad about just leaving without a trace.

Truth is I was starting to lose interest in the project
(relative to other things) and didn't really want to admit it to
myself, so I ended up doing way too many things at once (including
real life stuff) and got a kinda burned out by that. So after a couple
of months of not doing much at all, I decided I had to make some
priorities and choose the things I really wanted to work on the most.

Anyway, lession learned, should have given up control of the project
much earlier. I'm a creative start-new-things kind of guy, but Zini
was a much better project manager than me from the start.

I actually didn't realize until just now that openmw.org was up and so
active, I just saw the .com domain was down. It makes me happy to see
you guys figured out NPC animation, that was a nightmare :)

Cheers,
Nico
It's good that he decided to working on something new, interesting, and that can benefit the open/freeware game community. I'm impressed that you all rallied and reorganized the project. It is cool that you've gotten to this stage of development, even if it is still beyond my technical ability to mess around with.
