This is based on Sparkle for macOS. Not sure if there is a Linux equivalent.

The Linux equivalent for auto-updating would be whatever package manager your distro uses. Just need to put the packages into the relevant repository. I just hope the Ubuntu daily PPA gets fixed soon. That made things so easy.

Once the release is made, ppa dailies will came back online.
