Question on game saves

Hello. Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere, I wasn't able to find the answer.

As OpenMW continues it's releases, if I start a campaign now, would I need to start a brand new campaign with version 36 when that comes out, or can I continue from the same save file after I update?

Most likely you can still continue your old game, but OpenMW don't guarantee savegame compatibility until 1.0.
