They might not be legally able to come after people in the project, but they could make life for us very hard.
We managed to step around the problematic bits which is really a good thing. Bethesda is happy and we're also happy.
They had no real idea what OpenMW was, obviously, so we corrected their view and things mellowed out.

Chris wrote:Bethesda was getting scared that too much attention was being put on the Android port, because they have legal concerns with their Morrowind assets being used on non-PC devices (exactly what those concerns are, we don't know). But after some emails, a middle ground was reached, so to speak, where we can continue with making OpenMW work on non-PC systems, and in return we won't showcase OpenMW using Morrowind content on non-PC systems.
Well, I see that is "not so bad." But stating "Bethesda is cool with OpenMW" seems almost a joke. OpenMW was never in tablets too much, but the project today gave up to the perfectly legit right of showing off in that context.psi29a wrote:They might not be legally able to come after people in the project, but they could make life for us very hard.

But I guess, it beats Bethesda trying to sue the project even without any lawful reason as big companies usually do.

We can still show off OpenMW on tablets and other mobile devices. We just can't use Morrowind's content to do it.ezze wrote:OpenMW was never in tablets too much, but the project today gave up to the perfectly legit right of showing off in that context.
