I was just wondering if it would be easier to turn and FPS into and RPG than writing the engine from scratch.
FPS to RPG
FPS to RPG

Re: Turning an FPS into an RPG
... isn't Skyrim a FPS with a bit of sword play tossed in for good measure?
Re: Turning an FPS into an RPG
Exactly, that's what I mean. From the combat-side, though. All of the RP elements are also a big part of Skyrim, which don't exist in any FPS I am aware of.BrotherBrick wrote:... isn't Skyrim a FPS with a bit of sword play tossed in for good measure?
Re: Turning an FPS into an RPG
An FPS is practically an RPG with mostly only combat and not much else.
Re: Turning an FPS into an RPG
Probably easier turn RPG into FPS. Morrowind probably wouldn't work so well (without Total Conversion) but Oblivion maybe with a whole lot of Ai changes.

Am I the only one thinking that this is a bit of silliness?
You can take whatever engine you care about and make it what you want. You could even take a racing game and add RPG elements to it if you want.
What exactly is the problem here?

No, is not only you.Am I the only one thinking that this is a bit of silliness?
I don't understand what this topic is all about.

M?
If you are thinking that changing a different game engine into morrowind, dont expect the devs here to consider yet another re-write. If you want to try n take the openmw engine and say re-create halo again I doubt you will get any support. These things would take away from what has already been accomplished. But, if you want to take the engine and re-write it yourself by all means let us know if you get something accomplished...

ps, I even kind of share your enthusiasm as it would be cool to do game xxxx (meaning kingdom under fire, or halo, or whatever) but morrowind is the game the devs are doing
